Netflix is preparing the premiere of the series Avatar: The Last Airbender for 2024

In 2024, the streaming service Netflix is preparing to release the series Avatar: The Last Airbender based on the animated series of the early 2000s. This is evidenced by a short teaser presented during the Tudum event, writes The Verge.

The streamer also showed photos of the upcoming series on Twitter.

Work on the project has been ongoing for some time. It was announced in 2018 and since then it has gone through several problems. For example, due to creative differences, the creators of The Last Airbender Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko left the project.

Since then, Netflix has been announcing some of the cast and the technology behind the planned filming. But it never showed his intentions in action. Perhaps the company is hedging in this way, because it previously had a mixed history with anime adaptations.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is not the only such project in Netflix’s plans. The company also intends to film the anime One Piece and My Hero Academia.

We will remind you that previously Netflix created an anime in which systems with artificial intelligence were used for drawing the background, which again angered artists. In a tweet, the Japanese unit of Netflix said that the short film The Dog & The Boy uses art created by artificial intelligence due to a labor shortage in the anime industry. The tweet sparked immediate criticism and outrage from commentators who believe Netflix is using artificial intelligence to avoid paying human artists.
