Twitter refuses to pay Google Cloud bills

Twitter has refused to pay bills for the use of the cloud service Google Cloud, as the contract between the companies expires this month. This is reported by Reuters with a link to the Platformer report.

Refusal to pay for services can negatively affect the trust and security teams of a social network.

Before Elon Musk took over the social network last year, Twitter signed a multi-year contract with Google that covered, among other things, anti-spam and account protection.

The social network places some services on its server, and others on the cloud platforms of Amazon and Google. It has been trying to renegotiate its contract with Google since at least March.

In March, Amazon warned Twitter that it would withhold advertising payments due to the company’s outstanding bills with Amazon Web Services for cloud computing services.

We remind you that it was previously reported about the improvement of the function of sending direct messages on Twitter. To do this, the platform launched updates to its iOS and Android applications in May. The latest version of the app allows users to reply to any message in a thread, not just the latest one. In addition, users also got the option to choose any emoji as a reaction.
