Apple Vision Pro headset will undoubtedly remain one of the most interesting gadgets for a long time. Considering the fact that the device’s specifications are still not finalized, Apple did not focus on them during the WWDC 2023 conference.

However, in marketing materials, the company indicates that the headset is equipped with micro-OLED displays with a resolution that exceeds 4K. The total number of pixels is 23 million. But Apple does not say anything about the refresh rate of the screens. No mention of ProMotion technology or anything else. It is only noted that the delay time is approximately 12 milliseconds.

However, during the session Optimize app power and performance for spatial computing company representative said that most of the time Apple Vision Pro works at 90 Hz. Such an indicator is generally considered minimally sufficient for a person to perceive virtual reality as smoothly as if it were the real world. If necessary, the headset can increase the frequency. For example, when viewing content at 24 fps, the display frequency will be 96 Hz to reduce the effect of frame judder that could occur at 90 Hz.

Of course, there are headsets on the market today that offer higher refresh rates (up to 144Hz), but none of them offer displays with that many pixels. And the overall impression of the device is the result of a combination of these factors. So, judging by the first impressions of journalists and bloggers, a frequency of 90 Hz is quite enough for the very impressive work of Apple Vision Pro.
