Animated movie Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse started better than expected and earned $208.6 million at the global box office. This is reported by Gizmodo.

The movie was released on the big screen on June 2. Since then, it has earned $120.5 million in the American market, which became the best start of the summer season. For comparison, Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was able to earn slightly less – $118.4 million.

At the same time, the earning of the animated movie dramatically surpassed the results of the movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in 2018. It earned $35.3 million, so the current “Spider” surpassed the first film by 241%.

We will remind that at the beginning of April, Sony Pictures Animation and Marvel Entertainment presented the second full animation trailer. In it, you can see a new antagonist – Jonathan Ohnn, nicknamed Spot, and new parallel universes.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is only the first of two sequels; the conclusion of the trilogy, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is scheduled for release on March 29, 2024.
