A few days after the official start of sales of entry-level video cards from NVIDIA and AMD, new models have already begun to appear in Ukraine. If you want to be among the first users to try GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and Radeon RX 7600, you can even choose from a certain range of available models. Of course, this is the case if the initial price tags do not scare away and are acceptable.
We remind you that the recommended price of the base models of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB for the American market is $399, while for Europe the announced price is €439. It would be naive to count on similar price tags in Ukraine, especially at the beginning of sales. What do we actually have?
From the already available assortment of video cards that distributors managed to deliver, the most affordable were MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti VENTUS 2X BLACK 8G OC and GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Eagle 8G, which are offered at a starting price of 20,000 UAH (~$530 ; €490).
About UAH 22,000 (~$590; €540) is asked for the ASUS GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Dual OC 8GB, MSI GeForce RTX 4060 Ti GAMING X 8G and GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4060 Ti AORUS ELITE 8G models.
The most expensive was the ASUS GeForce RTX 4060 Ti TUF Gaming OC 8GB version, which was initially priced at 24,000 UAH (~$640; €590).
Video cards of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti series are just starting to go on sale, so we will make a discount for the initial hype. However, it is probably not worth expecting a “hype” in the usual sense of the word around this model with the current price tags. According to performance tests GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 8 GB usually succeeds almost catch up with the GeForce RTX 3070 8GB in Full HD. While in the more difficult modes of 1440p/4K, the novelty is inferior by 5–10%.
Considering that GeForce RTX 3070 is currently offered at a price of UAH 22-23,000, GeForce RTX 4060 Ti does not look like an opportunity to improve the price/performance ratio. In addition, there is a GeForce RTX 3060 Ti (18,000+ UAH) on sale in a wide range, which the new product usually manages to outpace, but the difference of ~10% is much smaller than what we would like to have when changing the generation of video cards.
Of course, the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti supports DLSS 3, which must be taken into account when choosing a video card. In addition, the model on the GPU with the Ada Lovelace architecture is significantly more economical than the models of the previous generation.
The starting range of Radeon RX 7600 8 GB available in Ukraine currently includes only one model – GIGABYTE Radeon RX 7600 GAMING OC 8G. The three-fan adapter with factory overclocking obviously does not belong to the basic devices of the series. The starting price of the video card is listed at 16,000 hryvnias (~$430; €395). We remind you that the recommended price of Radeon RX 7600 is $269 and €299 for the American and European markets, respectively.
In this case, you should not count on an easy start either, because the Radeon RX 7600, by analogy with the competitor’s solution, actually does not improve the current offers. Performance of the new AMD video card is very close to that of the Radeon RX 6650 XT 8 GB, which are available in a wide range in Ukraine from UAH 13,500.
As with the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti, the success of the Radeon RX 7600 will depend solely on the level of the offered prices. The starting values are expectedly too high, especially if there are quite powerful models of the previous generation, which already have more or less acceptable price tags. In addition, we do not even mention the oversaturated market of second-hand video cards, which certainly also plays a role and shapes user expectations for new models.
Hopefully, developers and vendors will be able to strike a balance soon enough, making the idea of buying a GeForce RTX 4060 Ti and a Radeon RX 7600 more attractive. And this, in turn, will allow us to recommend these models for gaming configurations in PC of the month.
