Electric cars have become truly mainstream over the past decade, with almost every automaker now offering an all-electric model. But other vehicles are not yet in a hurry to abandon internal combustion engines in favor of electric motors.

BMW wants to change that — to a degree. Together with TYDE, a company that usually builds premium yachts, they have developed the all-electric boat The Icon.

It is a 13-meter single-deck boat that can accommodate approximately ten people. A pair of 100 kW electric motors produce a maximum speed of 30 knots (55 km/h). Battery capacity – 240 kWh. The range is more than 50 nautical miles (about 100 km). You can control the boat using a 32″ touchscreen with a 6K resolution and the BMW iDrive system.

One of the special features of The Icon is the built-in soundtrack composed by the famous composer Hans Zimmer. Let me remind you, he is the author of music for the films The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, Interstellar, and many other films. The audio system of the boat supports Dolby Atmos, they promise that the sound should be at a high level. Although there are questions about the expediency of such a decision because noise from water and the environment can cancel out all these efforts.
