The Porsche company decided to say out loud “Come!” to classic mid-engine cars. After all, there was already information that new models of the Porsche 718 series will be presented next year – and they will switch to an electric drive. Therefore, the appearance of the Porsche 718 Spyder RS version is symbolic: the pinnacle of technology of the current Porsche 718 line with a classic internal combustion engine! And it is impressive: the seductive lines of the Porsche 718 Spyder RS hide a 4-liter, 500-horsepower opposed-piston engine with six cylinders.

The engine works together with a 7-speed PDK transmission and in a pair they give a hundred km/h in 3.4 seconds and a maximum speed of 308 km/h. However, the difference of Porsche 718 Spyder RS from other cars of the 718 series is not only in power, but also in the complex refinement of the model: improved aerodynamics, added channels for air circulation, installed PASM suspension with reduced (-30 mm) ground clearance, 20-inch wheels with low-profile rubber.

Another feature of the Porsche 718 Spyder RS sports car is the total lightening of the car. In total, the Porsche 718 Spyder RS weighs 1,410 kg compared to 1,450 kg in the regular Spyder version: this gain was achieved by making certain elements lighter. For example, a folding roof is made of thinner material. There is an option to order a lightweight titanium exhaust system. Lightweight sports seats are also installed.

So, a car for real fans was released. But such “artificial exclusive specimens” are not cheap: the Porsche 718 Spyder RS car will cost from 156,000 euros. Sales will start in the summer of 2023.
