Usually, portable speakers are not perceived as premium devices. The main requirements for them are to have good battery life and protection against moisture and dust, so that you can use them somewhere on vacation. However, when we talk companies such as Bang & Olufsen, portable speakers easily fall into the top segment.
The company presented a new Beosound A5 model. It was created together with designers from GamFratesi. Two versions of the speaker are offered: Nordic Weave (aluminum top and bottom, light oak handle, and woven paper fiber panels) and Dark Oak (black anthracite aluminum elements, dark oak handle, and matching speaker grille).
Despite using such materials, B&O claims that the Beosound A5 has IP65 protection, so it can be used outdoors. Of course, if you want to take the speaker for $1000 outside.
Another interesting feature of the Beosound A5 is its modular design. The company says it chose this design so that the speaker can be easily repaired, extending the life of the device. The company also plans to sell additional panels in other materials and colors for customization options.
The Beosound A5 runs on Mozart software, which allows the company to add new features over time for both audio and connectivity. Mozart is also able to combine two A5 speakers in a stereo pair and integrate the device into a multi-room composition.
The company claims the Beosound A5 is its most powerful portable speaker to date, with four speakers and four 280W digital amplifiers. The A5 is equipped with a 5.25″ woofer, two 2″ midrange speakers and a 3/4″ tweeter. Users can play audio using AirPlay 2, Chromecast and Spotify Connect technologies.
The battery life of Beosound A5 is up to 12 hours. The upper panel of the speaker also serves as a wireless charger for smartphones. The novelty is already available for order. The cost of Beosound A5 in Nordic Weave color is $1049, in Dark Oak color – $1149.
