The Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan is undoubtedly one of the cornerstones of the European automotive world. And last night, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class debuted in the W214 body, opening a new chapter in the company’s history. What will it be like?
First, interesting from the outside. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214 sedan has kept the classic proportions of the body: a large hood, a roof dome, and a short trunk. But changed in every detail. The new headlights have protrusions that seem to resemble “four eyes”. The taillights display the Mercedes-Benz logo. And the radiator grille with a dark glossy finish is reminiscent of the company’s electric cars. In addition, two versions of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214 car have already been prepared, which differ in bumpers, wheel rims, and exterior decoration.
Secondly, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214 has become larger than its predecessor: the total length of 4.95 meters and the wheelbase of 2.96 meters promise more space in the interior – almost at the level of the flagship model of Mercedes-Benz. And the equipment is “on par”: for the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214, the rear axle will be offered with the possibility of turning at an angle of up to 4.5 degrees (reduces the turning diameter by 90 cm), spring or air suspension, “digital key” with access from a smartphone.
And for the novelty, several engine options will be offered. So far, only 4-cylinder 2-liter turbo engines are available: gasoline version E200 (204 hp) or diesel E220d with 197 hp. All engines get the ISG mini-hybrid, which works with a voltage of 48 volts and adds 17 kW (23 hp) in the first seconds of starting from a standstill. The drive can be rear or all-wheel drive, the gearbox is a traditional 9-speed automatic 9G-TRONIC.
In addition, two plug-in hybrids based on a gasoline engine and with the addition of an electric motor with a capacity of 95 kW or 129 “horses” have already been prepared for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214. Also, these hybrids will receive a battery with a capacity of about 25 kWh, which should be enough for a distance of about 100 km in exclusively electric mode. The E300e version will offer a total power of 313 hp, while the E400e version will produce a total power of 381 hp.
Finally, it is worth noting the interior of the new product. More precisely, even interiors: after all, several interior options have already been prepared for the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
The basis of any option is the MBUX Superscreen front panel: it is a combination of three displays (diagonal 12.3/14.4/12.3 inches) under a common glass. Among the interesting features of the interior, it is worth noting multi-colored contour lighting, automatic control of ventilation deflectors and the direction of air movement, a built-in selfie camera and the TikTok application.
So, the story of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214 begins. Currently, the car is presented in a “sedan” body: sales will start as soon as the fall of this year. And then the “station wagon” body is waiting for us. 6-cylinder engines are also waiting. Finally, we are expecting for the appearance of AMG and cross versions of the new product. So, there is no doubt that the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class W214 car has prepared a lot of interesting things for fans of the three-pointed star.
