Lucasfilm has shared information about the future of the cult saga Star Wars. The studio confirmed that it is currently planning to create three new films. In one of them, the main role will be played by Daisy Ridley, who will return to the role of Rey.

The events of this picture will take place 15 years after episode IX The Skywalker’s Ascent, which is currently the last part of the saga. In the center of the plot will be Rey, who will form a new Jedi Order. Sharmeen Obeid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel, Saving Face) will direct the film.

Another film will be directed by James Mangold (Logan, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny). It will tell about the origin of the Force and the Jedi. The events will take place 25,000 years before what we have seen in the movies and series from the Star Wars universe.

Dave Filoni, who has been at the heart of the franchise for many years, will direct the third of the announced films. The movie will focus on the New Republic, its events will be connected to such series as Ahsoka, The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Filoni, by the way, directed the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars and took an active part in the development of the series listed above. So it’s only fitting that he would direct a film that would bring all these stories together.

Disney and Lucasfilm have yet to reveal release dates for any of the new films. However, Disney’s current schedule has slots in the 2025 and 2027 holiday seasons for as-yet-untitled Star Wars films.
