On August 17, the new superhero film Blue Beetle from DC and Warner Bros will hit the big screens, in which the star of the Cobra Kai series Xolo Maridueña played the main role. It’s also the first major motion picture from director Angel Manuel Soto, who previously only made independent films and shorts.

Blue Beetle is based on the DC comics of the same name and tells the story of Jaime Reyes, a college graduate who returns home and tries to find a job. However, unexpectedly, the boy receives a Scarab – an ancient relic of alien biotechnology, which chooses him as its symbiotic host and gives him incredible armor. So Jaime becomes a superhero – Blue Beetle.

As you can see, the film has a classic plot for a superhero movie, so one can only hope that the director and screenwriters put a more interesting story in it. Work on the film began at the end of 2018, and Blue Beetle was initially planned for the HBO Max streaming platform. But in 2021, the studio Warner Bros. announced that the film will be released in theatres. So it can be assumed that the movie turned out to be better than the heads of the studio expected.
