Lenovo has closed the Legion gaming line of smartphones

Gaming smartphones have grown in popularity in recent years, but they still remain a small segment of the market. So it cannot be said that the news about the closure of the Legion gaming line by Lenovo is something unexpected.

The first Legion smartphone was introduced in 2020. It offered a 144 Hz display, two vibration motors and RGB lighting. Its successor, Legion Phone Duel 2, received a retractable front camera, powerful software and an updated design. The devices looked interesting, but were niche, and were sold mainly in Asian markets.

The company said the closure of the Legion smartphone line is “part of a wider business transformation and consolidation of the gaming portfolio.” It is not yet clear if this will affect the Legion line of laptops, but we can assume that these devices will be safe.

Thus, now Asus ROG Phone, Nubia Red Magic and Xiaomi Black Shark remain the big players in the gaming smartphone market.
