Hyundai has just unveiled its new 2024 Hyundai Sonata full-size sedan. So far, only the exterior and interior have been shown, general information has been provided; a full presentation is expected soon at the auto show in Korea (end of March) and in the USA (beginning of April). However, even now it is already clear that the new Hyundai Sonata model will be very interesting. And here’s why…

Hyundai Sonata 2024 is more than just a facelift

In general, to be as precise as possible, we are not facing a completely new generation of car, but an update of the already existing “eighth” Hyundai Sonata model. But there are actually examples when cars were called “new generation” even with minor changes.

Here, for example, the Hyundai Sonata 2024 sedan received a completely changed front end, which even has its own name Seamless Horizon Lamp. The horizontal strip with backlight attracts attention, the main headlights seem to be “hidden” in the wide radiator grille, and in general – now there are much more sharp corners and straight lines. The rear part has also changed noticeably. There were no loud names (just “H”-shaped lights), but the strip across the entire width of the body and the vertical “legs” at the edges really look attractive.

The new car Hyundai Sonata has received a new design: straight lines and sharp angles dominate here, the front and rear parts of the body have been completely changed, with a new optic appeared. You can recognize the “primary source” in the form of the Hyundai Sonata of the eighth generation (the red car in the last two photos) only by the shape of the windows. In terms of appearance, the Hyundai Sonata 2024 update is much more than just a “planned facelift”.

Interesting equipment: N Line version, 2.5 liter engine, four-wheel drive

The version of the Hyundai Sonata N Line has also changed in a similar way: a new “sporty” front bumper, 19-inch wheels, a pair of dual exhausts, aerodynamic spoilers. In addition to the design, you can also expect other changes – custom chassis and steering settings, more powerful brakes. And the most important thing is that even before the update, the Hyundai Sonata N Line received a 2.5-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 290-295 hp. and an 8-speed N DCT robot transmission.

However, almost the biggest technical changes should appear for the regular versions of the car. It is expected that instead of the 1.6-liter turbo engine, a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated engine with a capacity of about 190 hp will be used globally from now on. Moreover, such an option already existed in the range of the Hyundai Sonata model for the US market. In addition, we should expect the appearance of a version with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Until this technical information is officially confirmed, more information may appear during the presentation of the model in Korea and the United States.

The N Line version already existed for the Hyundai Sonata model and this version has also received an update – it looks interesting! However, the technical changes in general may be even more interesting: the 2.5-liter engine and the AWD transmission.

The new interior concept is in the style of modern Hyundai electric cars

The interior of the car has also undergone drastic changes. From now on, the front panel is built with two large 12.3-inch displays connected to each other and mounted with a slight curve. The location of the automatic control joystick has also changed: it is now hidden behind the steering wheel. And this decision has already made it possible to change the central console, arranging large niches for things, etc.

In addition, a new steering wheel with buttons to control various functions has been added. The climate control unit has changed, and the air vent deflectors are new – they have an elongated shape, which is emphasized by a horizontal decorative bar.

Two combined displays, a new joystick of the automatic transmission under a new steering wheel, touch-sensitive “climate” control, changed air vent deflectors and decorative inserts… Count all the changes in total – and you will get a completely new interior, reminiscent of past versions of the model Hyundai Sonata, or rather modern electric cars of Hyundai IONIQ series.

So, when do we expect it in Ukraine? And should we expect at all?

Currently, Hyundai’s official representatives report that “they are not yet planning a Hyundai Sonata model for Ukraine.” I wonder what is key in this message – the word “yet” or the phrase “do not plan”?

After all, frankly speaking, everything depends on the cost of the car: without naming specific numbers, but saying in general “the price tag turns out to be cosmic.” As soon as there is an opportunity to reduce the potential entry cost of the Hyundai Sonata 2024 car, new conditions for considering the launch in Ukraine will immediately appear.

Perhaps the public’s perception of the novelty and even people’s comments under this post will affect the final decision. So I will ask you about the new sedan Hyundai Sonata 2024: are we waiting for it in Ukraine?
