We already talked about the debut of Hyundai Kona of the second generation: a compact SUV, 4.35 m long and 2.66 m wheelbase, a choice of three engine options – gasoline, hybrid, electric. However, if the technical specifications of the first two were made public from the beginning, the specifications of the Hyundai Kona Electric model became known only now.

So: the electric SUV Hyundai Kona Electric will receive two versions, which differ in batteries and electric motors. The basic version will receive a battery with a capacity of 48.4 kWh (range up to 392 km) and an electric motor with a capacity of 156 “horses”. The maximum version of the Hyundai Kona Electric will receive a 65.4 kWh battery (up to 490 km) and a 218-horsepower electric motor. According to these parameters, each of the versions has become better than its predecessor.

By the way, in addition to equipment, the Hyundai Kona Electric SUV will also have an original design: pay attention to the “pixel” inserts in the lower part of the front bumper, a similar solution is used behind. Also, the electric car Hyundai Kona Electric will get its own wheels and will get rid of dark, unpainted overlays over the wheel arches.

In the interior, there are almost no differences with gasoline or hybrid variants – only specific graphics of the instrument panel. However, there is an i-Pedal driving mode (one-pedal acceleration/stop control) and a regular socket: it can be used to connect various household appliances or charge other electric vehicles.

It is expected that the new Hyundai Kona Electric crossover will be available for purchase in the second half of 2023 because initially gasoline and hybrid versions of the car will enter the market. The estimated cost of the Hyundai Kona Electric starts at 40 thousand euros.
