If you have long felt the need to install the TikTok application on your Audi car, then it will soon become a reality. Volkswagen Group has decided to launch its own application store.

The world’s second-largest carmaker has announced that it will soon launch an app store designed to serve its broad portfolio of brands. In it, drivers will find familiar third-party applications optimized for use in cars.

At the initial stage, such well-known applications as TikTok, Spotify, Yelp and others will be presented, optimized for use in cars and designed to be launched from the screen of the infotainment system. The store will launch this year with some new Audi models and will later expand to other cars and brands such as Porsche, Lamborghini and Bentley.

As early as this summer, the app store will launch in the US, Canada, Mexico and Europe with most of the 2023 Audi model range, including cars such as the A4, A5, Q5, A6, A7, A8, Q8 E-tron and E-tron GT . Other Audi models will follow later this year, with other brands and cars to follow.

While the app store won’t be available as an update for existing models, the automaker says it will soon introduce an all-new infotainment stack called One.Infotainment for all its brands. It, as well as the operating system underlying it, will be based on Android Automotive. The Volkswagen Group store was developed in collaboration with Harman, an automotive supplier that is now a subsidiary of Samsung.
