The Polish studio Fool’s Theory (Seven, The Witcher Remake) and the publisher 11 bit studios (This War of Mine, Frostpunk) have announced a role-playing game The Thaumaturge whose events take place in Warsaw at the beginning of the 20th century.

The Thaumaturge is an isometric turn-based role-playing game on Unreal Engine 5 with a deep story and a fresh (according to the authors) look at tactical combat, character creation and investigation mechanics, in which the player will have to make a lot of difficult, ambiguous choices.

1905, Warsaw is under the imperial boot of Russia. The population, consisting of Russian soldiers, Jewish merchants, Polish burghers, and people of many other nations (I hope there will be Ukrainians too), is heterogeneous in origin, views, and beliefs, and, of course, has conflicting interests. Despite the oppressive circumstances, the capital is full of contrasts of life, where luxurious parties are closely intertwined with robbery in the dark alleys of poor districts…

And a fantasy version of Warsaw in 1905 is full of mysterious forces and strange unearthly creatures called saluters. Their power is subject only to thaumaturges, magicians who know how to tame such creatures.

The authors of The Thaumaturge promise complete freedom of role choice; manipulation of people, their traits and weaknesses; deep character customization, interesting combat techniques, etc.

There is no release date for The Thaumaturge yet, but there are already pages on Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG. So we add it to the Wish List, because all the games that 11 bit studios joins are really very good.
