Today, the updated Peugeot 508 and Peugeot 508 SW cars were presented, which received a new front design and hybrid engines.
The Peugeot company continues to cultivate its signature design with “claws”, so it decided to use such a solution not only behind, but also in front. Therefore, the main feature of the updated Peugeot 508 model was the changed “face”: a very stretched radiator grille, narrow headlights, triple LED strips which resemble claw marks.
New body colors and wheels were also added, a new emblem-logo was used, and the Peugeot inscription between the lights appeared at the back.
In the interior, the central console has changed, where a miniature automatic transmission joystick is now installed instead of a traditional lever. It is worth noting that all versions of the Peugeot 508 will receive an 8-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the graphics of the central and driver’s displays have been changed. By the way, pay maximum attention to the driver’s display: it has indicators characteristic of a hybrid and it’s for a reason!
After all, perhaps the most important technical change for the updated Peugeot 508 car is the widespread introduction of PHEV-hybrids. From now on, 180 or 225 hp hybrids based on a PureTech gasoline turbo engine and an electric motor are placed in the middle of the engine range. Such versions have front-wheel drive.
The maximum option is a special version of PEUGEOT SPORT ENGINEERED: also a PHEV-hybrid based on a gasoline engine, but with 360 “horses” and four-wheel drive. And the minimum option is the 130-horsepower version of the Peugeot 508: a small 1.2-liter gasoline engine or a 1.5-liter diesel, front-wheel drive.
By the way, the Peugeot 508 SW station wagon has also been updated in a similar way: the front design has been changed, and the range of hybrids has been expanded. Although it is unlikely that the station wagon will appear in Ukraine (it is not in the current Peugeot 508 line), and hybrids are also in question.
But in the range of the updated Peugeot 508 model, there is another version that will be available in certain markets – this is a gasoline version with a 218-horsepower 1.6-liter engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission, without any hybrid applications.
