Netflix streaming service previously published a list of films that will be released on its platform in 2023, among which was Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon.

The director’s pictures, as a rule, attract the attention of the audience, especially if they are so large-scale. After all, as it became known now, the story of the film will be divided into two parts.

“When we saw how big the world he created was, we thought it would be better served as two pieces versus one film,” Netflix co-head of originals Ori Marmrur said in a conversation with Variety. “It’s the kind of story that can continue to grow.”

Marmur also added that Snyder had been hatching the concept for the film for decades, and even compared it to Star Wars. This comparison is very appropriate, since Snyder proposed to make Star Wars for Lucasfilm long before Disney bought the company. Even the story of the film is very reminiscent of the “Star” saga mixed with Seven Samurai by Akira Kurosawa: Sofia Boutella plays the role of Kora, a young woman who must gather a group of warriors to repel the attack of the galactic empire.
