Lenovo is known, among other things, for the Think line of business devices, which is mostly associated with laptops. But that’s not all there is. And now the company added the ThinkPhone smartphone, which was developed by the Motorola department, to this list.

“I’m excited to launch the Lenovo ThinkPhone, a device that truly embodies the trusted quality and purposeful design of the ThinkPad while also bringing unique productivity tools, and industry-leading security and device management capabilities. With its premium specs and seamless integration with the ThinkPad, the ThinkPhone will maximize the experience for business customers for years to come,” says Sergio Buniac, Motorola President and Lenovo Senior Vice-President.

Of course, first of all, it will be a business-oriented smartphone, which will have several differences from ordinary Android smartphones. These include ThinkShield, a “best-in-class security platform that has core security policies, features, specialized hardware, software, and processes that keep the entire device secure.”

New business device from Lenovo: the ThinkPhone smartphone developed by Motorola

Moto Threat Defense is a stand-alone security solution that includes additional hardware and software (with AI, of course). Moto OEMConfig and Moto Device Manager will allow the IT department to remotely configure and set up devices. There’s also a separate Moto Secure app that acts as a hub for security and privacy settings. The smartphone also has a separate Moto KeySafe co-processor, which is an additional security link to isolate PINs, passwords, cryptographic keys and more.

Microsoft 365, Outlook and Teams applications will also be immediately installed on ThinkPhone smartphones (there is even a separate button on the body that will allow you to use the smartphone as a walkie-talkie). In addition, the smartphone can be synchronized with computers, which will allow you to get a shared Clipboard, notifications from the smartphone in the Windows Action Center, transfer files, run applications from the smartphone on the computer, use the smartphone cameras for video calls, and easily use the smartphone as a hotspot.

Along with this, the smartphone has a carbon back and an aluminum chassis. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. The case has MIL STD 810H certification and IP68 water and dust protection. Measuring 158.8×74.4×8.3 mm and weighing 188.5 grams, the ThinkPhone features a 6.6-inch display with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. There is also an optical fingerprint scanner under the glass.

On the back there is a 50-megapixel wide-angle sensor and a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with a 120° field of view. In addition, there is a 2-megapixel sensor for measuring depth. The resolution of the front camera is 32 MP.

Inside the device there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 8/12 GB of RAM and a 128-512 GB storage. Of course, there is support for 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, navigation, etc. The battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh can be quickly charged with a 68-watt wired connection or at an induction 15-watt station.

The ThinkPhone will go on sale this month, but as GSMArena notes, because it’s a B2B device, don’t expect to see it on store shelves.
