Twitter is blocking links to Mastodon

Besides blocking journalists, Twitter has also started blocking links to many of the main servers of Mastodon, which some users see as the main alternative to Elon Musk’s social network. Moreover, Twitter blocks not only the link to Mastodon, but also removed the account of the service from its platform.

When trying to leave a link to Mastodon on Twitter, an error message appears: “We can’t complete this request because this link has been identified by Twitter or our partners as being potentially harmful.” Twitter is now blocking links to the original mastodon.social server and over 10 other domains, reports The Verge.

The Mastodon ban follows the recent events surrounding the ElonJet account, which tracks the flights of Twitter CEO Elon Musk’s private jet. On Wednesday, Twitter suspended the account and soon after banned its owner, Jack Sweeney. Twitter also introduced a new policy that prevents people from sharing another person’s location live.

Apparently, Mastodon’s ban came after its account tweeted a link to ElonJet’s page on its platform.
