Currently, the category of folding smartphones is dominated by Samsung, which has managed to release four generations of such devices. But competitors do not give up hope to grab the piece of this pie. Last year, OPPO tried to take this path with the OPPO Find N model (our review of which you can read here). This year, the model has turned into a line consisting of two devices — OPPO Find N2 and OPPO Find N2 Flip.

OPPO Find N2 has not changed conceptually, remaining a compact “book”. When folded, its dimensions are 132.2×72.6×14.6 mm, and when unfolded, it measures 132.2×140.5×7.4 mm. It is quite a bit less than its predecessor. But the weight has changed noticeably – 233-237 grams against 275.

The chassis was left aluminum, and an “eco-leather” option was added to the glass panel behind. Color options: black, white and green. Also, the Flexion Hinge hinge was refined in the case, which should hide the screen assembly line even more. Now it consists of 100 elements (there were 138), uses carbon and stronger alloys than the previous ones.

The internal LTPO AMOLED display has not undergone changes in most characteristics: 7.1 inches, 9:8.4, 1920×1792 pixels and 120 Hz. But this time the brightness significantly increased – 1200 cd/m² and 1550 at the peak (reproduction of HDR images, for example). The display also learned to work with the OPPO Pen stylus, which should once again help in competition with the Samsung Galaxy Fold4.

The external display has minimally increased to 5.54 inches, added resolution to 2120×1080 with an aspect ratio of 17.7:9, and refreshes the image at 120 Hz. It also received additional brightness — 1000 cd/m² typical and 1350 cd/m² peak.

For faster access to the system, there is a fingerprint scanner on the side.

Three cameras were left behind, although they changed the design of the unit and the location. The wide-angle camera uses a Sony IMX890 sensor with 50 MP and ƒ/1.8. Ultra-wide-angle received 48 MP with ƒ/2.2 and a capture angle of 115°. And the telephoto has 32 MP with ƒ/2.0 and two times optical zoom. Two selfie cameras (one for each of the screens) received 32-megapixel sensors with ƒ/2.4.

Android 13 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, complemented by 12/256GB or 16/512GB memory combinations. Along with this, there is support for 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, several navigation systems and NFC. The custom chip MariSilicon X, which the company developed together with Hasselblad, helps with image processing.

And all this is powered by a battery with a capacity of 4520 mAh, which increased the support for fast charging to 67 W. Unfortunately, there is no induction charging.

It is also a pity that the smartphone may not leave the “home” market again, where it will cost approximately $1,145 and $1,290.

It is interesting that at the same time the second model — OPPO Find N2 Flip — will go around the world. And it is already a competitor for the Samsung Galaxy Filp4 and the new Moto RAZR. And it will be possible to recognize it by the vertical arrangement of the external display and two large camera windows.

The dimensions of the OPPO Find N2 Flip when folded are 85.5×75.2×16 mm, and 166.2×75.2×7.5 mm when unfolded. The weight of the case is 191 grams. All this is a very small difference with the Samsung Galaxy Flip4. The outer panels are made of glass, and they are held by a metal chassis. Among the colors, you can choose black, purple and “gold”.

The size of the extended external screen is 3.2 inches, where an OLED matrix is installed with a resolution of 720×382 pixels and a normal refresh rate of 60 Hz. With its help, you can see notifications, use it as a selfie mirror, check the weather forecast, etc.

But the internal display already has a size of 6.8 inches with a resolution of 2520×1080 pixels, an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. HDR+ support at peak brightness of up to 1,600 cd/m² (typical — 1,200 cd/m²) was indispensable.

The main cameras are wide-angle with 50 MP and ƒ/1.8, and next to it there is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle with ƒ/2.2 and a capture angle of 112°. The internal selfie camera received 32 MP and ƒ/2.4.

Unlike the OPPO Find N2, the Flip uses the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ and has different memory combinations: 8/256GB, 12/256GB and 16/512GB. Communication capabilities repeat the first model of the line.

The battery capacity in OPPO Find N2 Flip is 4300 mAh. Only wired charging type is supported, where the maximum power is 44 W.

Depending on the combination of memory, such a model in China will cost $860, $917 or $1,000. Prices for other markets and launch date will be announced later.
