One of the most popular foldable smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy Fold, received stylus support back in 2021 with the Fold3 model. But, unlike the Note line, the Fold does not have a place for it in the case. So users have to either buy a case with a suitable pocket for it, or store the stylus separately from the smartphone. It’s not very convenient.
But this situation may change already with the next generation Samsung Galaxy Fold5. Korean media The Elec reports that the company is already working on it, so that the stylus can still be hidden inside the smartphone itself, as was the case with the Note line of gadgets. We expected to see a similar idea with Fold4, but this year it did not happen.
At the same time, company representatives are discussing with contractors the possibility of reducing the visibility of the “fold” on the internal display, reducing the size and weight of the gadget (at least a new vibration motor is already being discussed), as well as increasing the strength of the case.
Samsung says that 90% of foldable smartphone users do not plan to change the format of the device when replacing it. Moreover, the market is expected to increase by 80% by 2025. And here the company also expects to see Apple among its competitors, but with a slight amendment:
Samsung also shared that in the South Korean market, iPhone users in their 20s and 30s were changing their devices to Samsung’s foldable phones at a rate three to four times higher than before.
According to the source, foldable smartphones currently account for only 1% of the total market. At the same time, according to Samsung, customers are very satisfied with the format and expect exponential growth of this sector.
