Modern smartphones very rarely correspond to the word “compact”, because large displays are currently installed in the vast majority of models and accordingly affect the dimensions of the cases. In Among compact smartphones, there is still the iPhone SE, which is partly chosen for its ergonomics.

The current third-generation iPhone SE model still uses the old smartphone design with large bezels above and below the display, which measures just 4.7 inches. But the next version will almost certainly change significantly.

It was previously reported that the future SE will still get a more modern appearance and resemble the iPhone XR. In addition, there were two possible sizes of the case.

This time CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants Ross Young said on Twitter (only for Super Followers) that Apple has not yet fully decided on either the display size or the matrix type.

Options include a 6.1-inch OLED display, or a 5.7- or 6.1-inch IPS. There are also two manufacturers for each option (without specifying which ones). The use of OLED may slightly affect the cost of the device itself, but by the time of release, the prices of such displays may also decrease.

It is also worth recalling that the iPhone mini, which was discontinued this year, was the smallest of Apple’s current line of smartphones. But any of these proposed screens for the iPhone SE is still larger (iPhone 13 mini had a 5.4-inch display).
