No one knows for sure what the future holds for the DC Cinematic Universe on the big screen, but two of its most popular stars will be in the spotlight: Batman and Superman. A new Superman movie starring Henry Cavill is in the very early stages of development at Warner Bros., and Matt Reeves isn’t just making a Batman sequel, he’s looking to make spin-offs based on some of his villains.

Rumors of Henry Cavill’s return as Superman have been swirling for the past few weeks, with Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson heavily hinting that the character could make a cameo appearance in his film. If that’s true (which viewers will find out later this week), the potential cameo would mark the character’s official return. As a result, the next step will be a new film. Whether this will be an official Man of Steel 2 or something related to Black Adam is still unknown.

As for Batman, it has already been confirmed and officially announced that Matt Reeves is making a sequel, and work is well underway on a Penguin show for HBO Max. However, many of the DC Cinematic Universe shows and movies are in the “very early stages of development” in the Batman universe, played by Robert Pattinson. Examples include “characters ranging from the Scarecrow to Clayface and Professor Pyg.”
