On October 28-29, the Final of the Championship DEV Challenge XIX, the “Olympic Games” in the field of IT, will take place. It traditionally took place offline in Kyiv and online in parallel, but this year, due to the full-scale war, it was moved to Poland.

During the DEV Challenge XIX Championship, participants will receive real cases from the partners of the season, such corporations as Readdle, Luxoft, Revolut, AMO and others. Tasks from non-commercial projects, which should help strengthen the country, will also be presented. The organizers of the challenge regularly cooperate with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense. This year, competitive tasks from UNICEF, the Ministry of Digital, the Ministry of Defense and the “Army of Drones” will be presented.

The DEV Challenge XIX championship started in early September 2022 and will continue for another month. The competition takes place in three stages: Qualification, Online round, Final. The judges of the Championship are professionals of the international IT community from Europe, the USA and Australia.

This year, developers united to develop technological solutions in the humanitarian sphere and develop winning technologies for Ukraine and, in particular, the Armed Forces.

“Modern warfare is won by modern technologies, therefore effective implementation of the best solutions is a strategically important step to victory. High-quality and creative digital solutions for the Ukrainian army are no less important than traditional methods of conducting combat operations,” says Timur Korytny, director of digitalization at Ukroboronprom DC.

According to the organizer of the Championship Yevheniia Bespalova, every year the competition becomes an increasingly powerful tool for inventing technological solutions for critical tasks of society.

“DEV Challenge participants receive tasks from our partners. Since 2019, we have been actively cooperating with ministries, involving top IT specialists in solving pressing issues of the state. Thanks to the Championship, the country accelerates digitization processes in various areas. This year, we are working on the development of technologies for the reconstruction of Ukraine, and assistance to the Armed Forces. Also among the tasks set are solutions for the protection of children and other humanitarian issues. At the DEV Challenge, we give tasks both from the partners from the commercial sector and non-profit organizations,” says Bespalova.

The championship, for which more than 1,800 participants have already registered, traditionally takes place online. The finals of DEV Challenge XIX will be held on October 28 and 29 online and offline in various locations.

Poland became one of the offline locations for the first time. The final of DEV Challenge XIX, in particular, will take place in the second largest city of the country – Łódź.

Łódź is one of the first cities that supported Ukraine during the Russian military aggression against Ukraine. Such a position is important for the organizers, because the 19th season of DEV Challenge is largely dedicated to supporting Ukraine for its victory and faster reconstruction.
