The French company Renault is actively drawing attention to the return of its cult model Renault 5 in a new form – from now on as an electric car. Many concepts and original incarnations – for example, in the form of a new Renault R5 Turbo 3E sports car for drifting.
Despite its compact dimensions (only 4006 mm long and 2.54-meter wheelbase), the Renault R5 Turbo 3E concept car looks like a real “big guy”! What are the air ducts, wide rear wing, huge wheels worth: 19-inch in front and 20-inch in the back.
The design of the concept is even more interesting. The basis is a tubular frame, on which the outer panels are attached. Inside – a 42 kWh battery and an electric motor with a capacity of 280 kW or about 380 “horses”. Not bad for a 980-kilogram electric car!
Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes only 3.5-3.9 seconds, depending on the selected driving mode. Among which, of course, is “drift”! By the way, switching driving modes and displaying information is on small indicators near the steering wheel. And real sports “buckets” await the driver and passenger inside.
Of course, the electric car Renault R5 Turbo 3E will remain only a concept. However, it fulfills its role perfectly: it draws attention to Renault in general and to the return of the Renault 5 model in particular. How long should we wait? What will a serial electric car be like? We will find out soon!
