The idea of BeReal has recently gained popularity among American users. Once a day, the application notifies the user that there are a couple of minutes for photos from the main and selfie cameras to show your friends and followers exactly what is happening in your life right now (here is a little more about the social network). And TikTok did not miss this idea.

“TikTok Now invites you and your friends to capture what you’re doing in the moment using your device’s front and back camera. You’ll receive a daily prompt to capture a 10-second video or a static photo to easily share what you’re up to,” reports company blog.

The TikTok Now model is almost identical to BeReal. Users receive the same notifications (only with a different text – Time to Now), after which they have to react accordingly and show their followers what they are doing right now.

TikTok is starting to compete with BeReal. The function was called TikTok Now

To begin with, the feature will only be available to US users.

As TechCrunch pointed out, on BeReal you need to be careful with its location settings so you don’t accidentally tag your post with where you live, work, etc. In turn, TikTok Now should not share the location in such posts. In addition, TikTok has age restrictions for younger users: the posts of teenagers will not get into the general feed, and there is a restriction on commenting on posts for 13-15-year-old users (they will be able to leave a comment only if the users are subscribed to each other).

A similar BeReal function is also on Instagram.
