Over the weekend, Disney held its semi-annual D23 event, where it showed teasers and trailers for the movies and TV series coming this year and next. Special attention was paid to shows and movies coming to Disney Plus and new videos in the Star Wars and Marvel franchises.

Disney released a trailer to the movie Willow, which is a sequel to the cult film of 1988, directed by Ron Howard. This is a film about a wizard in whom few people believe, but who saves the world from an evil witch with the help of his friends.

D23 also saw the premiere of the final trailer for the series Andor from the Star Wars cinematic universe, which will tell about the events that took place on the eve of the story told in the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The animated series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi also received a trailer. It will cover the events of Ahsoka’s training and the rise and possibly fall of Count Dooku.

After two years of waiting Disney will also release the third season of the fantasy series The Mandalorian, which will premiere on the Disney+ streaming platform in February 2023.

Samuel Jackson returns as Nick Fury to the Marvel Universe in Secret Invasion. This is a loose adaptation of the Marvel comics crossover, the basis of which tells the story of the invasion of Earth by aliens who can change shape. The trailer doesn’t explicitly say that the aliens are the Skrulls, first shown in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain Marvel, but it’s unlikely that Nick Fury, given his history with the Skrulls, would be chasing other aliens.

Another Marvel character appearing in Secret Invasion – James Rhodes / Iron Patriot played by actor Don Cheadle, finally will get his own series on Disney+, which will be called Armor Wars.

Marvel also showed a black and white trailer of the film Werewolf By Night, in which Gael García Bernal starred as the werewolf Jack Russell. The trailer also gives us our first look at the Marvel Comics character Man-Thing.

Marvel also showed a new trailer for the second part of the first season of the new series She-Hulk.

Although this is not an official trailer, Marvel showed the cast of the film Thunderbolts, which will be released in 2024. David Harbour, Olga Kurylenko, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Florence Pugh, Hannah John-Kamen, Wyatt Russell, and Sebastian Stan starred in the film, which tells the story of a squad of supervillains.

Marvel also reported the release date of the next film Fantastic Four, which will be a reboot of the franchise already in the expanded Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The premiere is scheduled for November 8, 2024. Details about the cast are still unknown, although there is information that Matt Shakman, who directed the series WandaVision, will direct the film. Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, said we’ll have to wait until D23 next year to find out more details.
