The announcement of The Expanse: A Telltale Series, a game based on the famous television series The Expanse (which, in turn, is based on the series of science fiction novels of the same name by James Corey), took place back in December 2021, during the ceremony of The Game Awards. And now, at the opening of the Gamescom exhibition, the publisher of the game, Telltale Games, shared the first detailed information about the status of the project.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series is being developed by Deck Nine (Life Is Strange), and the authors say it will differ from Telltale Games’ previous titles with “some new gameplay elements.” The game acts as a prequel to the TV series, the main character will be Camina Drummer, the captain of the ship Artemis, who, typical of Telltale games, finds herself in difficult circumstances and has to make difficult decisions. Fans of the series will certainly appreciate the fact that Camina is voiced in the game by actress Kara Gee, who played the role in the series.

By the way, the current Telltale Games has a rather indirect relationship with the developer of such famous games as The Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Tales from the Borderlands, etc. — the original Telltale Games closed in 2018, after which the newly formed LCG Entertainment acquired the rights to most of its intellectual property and has since operated under the trade name Telltale Games.

The Expanse: A Telltale Series should be released in the summer of 2023, you can watch the first gameplay footage and listen to the developers in the official trailer.
