The new generation of Volkswagen Amarok is presented – this is a mid-range pickup from the “Germans”, which this time was developed jointly with the American company Ford and will be produced at a plant in South Africa. Here’s “globalization” in the automotive world on the example of a single model. Which, by the way, with the change of generation significantly increased in size: from now on, the length of the car is 5.35 m, the wheelbase reaches 3.27 m.

What else has changed? Of course, the design has changed significantly: a new interior and LED headlights (in the maximum versions, even matrix ones), “cut” wheel arches, and giant wheel discs – up to 21 inches. The car will be offered with a single or double cab, and the size of the body also depends on this. The car will receive a wide range of engines: four types of diesel and gasoline in addition. The base is a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbodiesel with a capacity of 150 hp, the next is its analog, but already with 170 “horses”. Also, a 2-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine, but with two turbines, offers 204-209 hp. depending on the sales market. And the leader of the diesel line is a 3-liter V6 with 241-250 “horses”. Plus, the range includes a gasoline 2.3-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine producing 302 hp.

The drive is on the rear wheels (for the simplest versions) or full 4MOTION, which can have a reduction gear. Gearboxes are also available in variations: 5- or 6-speed mechanic, 6-speed automatic, and even 10-speed automatic transmission for the maximum versions of the car. The modernity of the new Volkswagen Amarok is also emphasized by the interior: a digital instrument panel based on an 8- or 10-inch display, a vertical touch screen with a diagonal of 10 or 12 inches. Plus 20 driver assistance systems and a premium audio system.
