Another package of military aid from the US for $820 million: NASAMS, missiles for HIMARS and some more

Pentagon announced the next package of military aid to Ukraine in the amount of $820 million. This is already the 14th aid package from the USA since August 2021. There are not many positions in it, but all of them are very important.

First, these are additional missiles for MLRS HIMARS, which have already managed to show themselves very well at the front.

Secondly, the long-awaited air defense systems NASAMS, which will cover our sky. At least a fraction, because there are only two such systems so far. Most likely, we are talking about NASAMS platoon kits, each of which includes 3 launchers for 18 missiles, an AN/TPQ-64 three-coordinate radar station and a fire control panel – this is the basic unit for this air defense system. By the way, the cost of one NASAMS platoon is $23 million in 2022 prices, the cost of each shot, that is, one AIM-120 AMRAAM missile (AIM-120D 2019 modification) is more than $1.2 million.

Third, 150,000 155 mm shells, because the consumption of ammunition at the front is staggering, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine fire a significantly lower number of shots than the russians.

Fourth, 4 additional counter-battery radars to locate and destroy at close range with the HIMARS and 155mm howitzers.
