Information about the Armed Forces of Ukraine strike on both self-elevating floating drilling rigs B312 – Petro Godovanets and B319 – Ukraine, known as Boyko Towers, or only one of them appeared on the Telegram channel of the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Oleksii Honcharenko. It was later confirmed by the self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the temporarily occupied Crimea Sergey Aksyonov.

According to Aksyonov, at about 8 am, the Armed Forces struck both platforms, where 12 people were. Only 5 people were rescued, 3 of whom were injured.

Interestingly, the strike occurred literally the day after President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine will respond to strikes on fuel infrastructure.

We remind that Boyko Towers, purchased with a large overpayment and violations, were seized by Russian special forces in March 2014. The platforms are used by the occupiers not only for gas production on the Ukrainian Black Sea shelf, but also for exploration. The last known coordinates of the platforms are about 100 km south of Odesa, east of Zmiinyi Island.

It is still unknown what exactly the Armed Forces hit the drilling platforms with – whether it was a Harpoon strike, the use of a UAV, or an attack from aircraft. We are waiting for the details.
