Next month, Russian citizens will have a visa regime to enter Ukraine. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky on his Telegram channel.

“And today (June 17, – ed.) The Cabinet of Ministers must make this important decision – the Resolution “On termination of the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the Russian Federation on visa-free travel for citizens of Ukraine and the Russian Federation and application of some international agreements of Ukraine with the Russian Federation,” says  the message.

According to the planned decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, the visa regime for Russians to enter Ukraine will take effect on July 1. However, the actual mechanism for issuing visas in Russia does not exist and can not exist until the end of the war.

Later that day, the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal said that the government has decided to terminate the visa-free agreement with Russia.

“In order to counter unprecedented threats to national security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state, the Government has just decided to terminate the visa-free agreement with Russia on the instructions of the President of Ukraine,” the prime minister wrote.

We will remind, on May 26 the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy supported the petition on introduction of a visa mode for citizens of the Russian Federation and transferred this question to work of Denis Shmyhal.
