The premiere of the historical action film Dovbush directed by Oles Sanin, which was to take place on May 12, 2022, is postponed to the fall of this year. Until now, the creators plan to present the film at one of the international festivals.

During December-February, preparations for the large-scale promotional campaign of the film, created by Pronto Film with the support of the Ukrainian State Film Agency, continued. A few months before the start of a full-scale Russian invasion, the creators announced the long-awaited release date – May 12. However, the war has ruined all the plans. The creators do not announce a new release date for the wide Ukrainian box office, but they believe that it could happen this fall – immediately after Ukraine’s victory over the Russians. We are currently aware of the desire to present the film at one of the international film festivals, in Toronto or Venice, followed by the international launch.

We remind you that Dovbush tells about the events of the 18th century in the Ukrainian Carpathians. The brutal reigning of the Polish nobility forced the Hutsuls to flee to the mountains. Two brothers Oleksa and Ivan Dovbush find themselves outlawed and become opryshkys. Searching for revenge for the murder of Dovbush’s parents, the brothers become enemies to each other: one seeks money, the other – justice. Hutsuls begin a riot led by Oleksa.
