It’s easier to take a photo or video of yourself now. Snap has announced a small yellow Pixy drone that can fly nearby and capture memories. The drone will be available in the US and France for $300.

“Today, we’re taking the power and magic of the Snap Camera — the spontaneity, the joy, and the freedom — to new heights. A new camera to match the limitless potential of your imagination. Meet Pixy, the world’s friendliest flying camera. It’s a pocket-sized, free-flying sidekick for adventures big and small,” said Snap CEO Evan Spiegel.

Pixy differs from the usual drone as it does not have a controller and SD card. It seems that the company has optimized the device so that it is easy to get and use. The drone has an activation button and a selector to select the flight mode.

There are four modes. Pixy can float or circle around, as well as follow a person while running or walking. Just select the mode, press the start button and the drone takes off. To stop recording, you need to put your hand under the drone. Pixy will automatically sit on your palm.

The drone weighs only 101 grams and has a replaceable battery. It can make 5 to 8 flights on one charge. At the same time, Pixy captures videos with a resolution of 2.7K (2704 x 1520 pixels) and 15-megapixel photos. All videos are automatically transferred to your phone and stored in Snapchat memories. As usual, they can be edited and sent.
