This year’s Borderlands spin-off adventure promises something completely new to its fans. Tales from the Borderlands will be expanded with a new part in the style of interactive fiction.

Little is known about the new project, but Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchfold explained how the new part will differ from the previous game.

“This time we’re doing it to imagine all-new characters and all-new stories in from the Borderlands. So soon, we’ll be announcing an entirely new game set in the Borderlands universe and presented in that style of interactive fiction. I’m talking about an all new Tales from the Borderlands adventure,” he said in a speech at PAX East.

According to Pitchfold, details about the game will be fully revealed this summer, before its release later this year.

Tales from the Borderlands is an original development of TellTale Games, which told one story in five episodes. Following the closure of TellTale Games in 2018, the Borderlands franchise was acquired by 2K Games.

The new game will be published in 2K and developed by Gearbox studio, which created Borderlands. According to Pitchfold, Gearbox has actually been secretly working on the new part for the past few years.
