The 93rd Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine used a ground-based drone with aircraft missiles against the enemy
The company of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine began using a ground-based drone equipped with a UB-16-57 launcher for 16 S-5 unguided aircraft missiles, Militarnyi reports.
The project was initiated by the company commander with the call sign "Electrician". According to his idea, the launch unit, which had been there for about 70 years, was dismantled from a museum aircraft in the city of Berestyn and installed on an unmanned platform.
The unit also received 150 missiles, which were effectively used to destroy enemy positions - the drone fired a missile salvo, after which it was moved to another location for reloading and reuse.
The use of such a drone came as a surprise to Russian troops, who responded with massive fire from various types of weapons, including artillery, into the area where the drone was being used.
According to the military officer, despite initial doubts, this idea has proven to be quite effective and is actively used.
Another important area of use for ground drones is the rescue of soldiers. Recently, the commander of the K-2 regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Kyrylo Veres, said that his regiment's robotic ground platforms successfully evacuated four wounded soldiers in four days.
Also, a successful example of the use of ground drones was recorded in the 13th brigade of the 13th Khartiia Brigade. They successfully evacuated a wounded person using the Targan ground robotic complex. This drone was able to deliver the wounded person to the evacuation group along a 12 km route.
