Seven more countries intend to join the Persistent Uniform Resource Locator (PURL) initiative to purchase American weapons for Ukraine's needs, Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha said, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"Today, we have six countries that have contributed specific amounts to fill it (the PURL initiative - ed.), to continue the program. And as of today, we can talk about the intention of seven more countries to participate with a specific contribution to this program," the minister noted during a press conference with EU Foreign Minister Kaia Kallas in Kyiv.

According to the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, $2 billion has already been raised for the first package within the PURL.

"And the first package of this program is already under implementation," said Andriy Sybiha.

At the end of September, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that several packages of American weapons have already been financed for Ukraine within the framework of the PURL initiative.

According to him, since August, the Netherlands has financed the first package of $ 578 million, and Denmark, Norway, and Sweden together have financed the second package of $ 495 million. In addition, Germany has announced its intention to finance a third package of $500 million, and Canada has announced a fourth package of $500 million.

At the same time, the President reported that the fifth and sixth packages had already been agreed upon with the American side at that time.

The PURL initiative, launched in the summer of 2025, was created jointly by NATO and the United States. The initiative is aimed at the rapid supply of American weapons, which are financed by partners to Ukraine.
