On the night of August 21, during another massive attack, almost 50 Russian drones were shot down by interceptor drones in the Kyiv region. This was reported by the head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Mykola Kalashnyk.
"Hunters from the Clear Sky project intercepted almost five dozen enemy drones this night. Thank you to our defenders for the excellent work and security for the cities and villages of the Kyiv region," he wrote.
According to him, the alert in the Kyiv region lasted for more than 7 hours. No critical or residential infrastructure was hit. As Mykola Kalashnyk noted, there were no casualties among the population.
Let us recall that the "Clear Sky" project appeared in the spring of 2025 in the Kyiv region and became a response to the tactics of massive attacks by enemy kamikaze drones. Defenders use interceptors to destroy drones in the sky before they can harm civilians and infrastructure.
In May, the head of the Kyiv OVA announced the formation of new teams and the training of new interceptor operators. At that time, he also noted that the project's experience is already going beyond the Kyiv region and being scaled to other regions.
On August 18, Mykola Kalashnik stated that almost 900 enemy drones had been intercepted since the project began.
