Members of the European Parliament have adopted a resolution calling for a "unified response" to violations of EU airspace by Russian aircraft, as well as drone attacks on critical infrastructure, Ukrinform reports.
The document supports the initiative to build a Drone Wall and calls for developing comprehensive cooperation with Ukraine in the field of protecting EU skies . 469 deputies voted "for", 97 voted "against", and 38 abstained.
It was previously reported that the EU wants to create a "drone wall" using Ukrainian technology. It is planned to spend billions of euros on this. The idea arose against the backdrop of violations of NATO airspace by Russian drones.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has stressed that Europe must "build a drone wall" on its eastern border. She soon announced that Ukraine would receive €2 billion for drone production. This will allow it to scale up production and develop drone technology.
At the same time, some countries have announced their own projects to protect their eastern borders. For example, the United Kingdom intends to deploy a large-scale defense system of its own UAVs in Eastern Europe to strengthen the defense of NATO countries against Russian attacks.
Britain is implementing this project in cooperation with Ukraine within the framework of the Project OCTOPUS program, and the interceptor UAVs themselves will be produced at British factories.
