On August 28, 2025, soldiers of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry's GUR hit a Buyan-M missile ship in the Sea of Azov. This is stated in a report by Ukrainian intelligence.
"On August 28, 2025, as a result of a joint operation of the Department of Active Operations of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine and the "Prymary" special unit of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine in the Sea of Azov near the temporarily occupied Crimea, a small missile ship of the aggressor state of Russia of project 21631 "Buyan-M" - a carrier of "Kalibr" cruise missiles - was hit," the message said.
According to the department, fighters of the special unit of the GUR of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine "Ghosts" damaged the ship's radar with an aerial drone strike, and special forces of the Department of Active Operations of the GUR of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine attacked the side of the carrier "Kalibr".
As a result of the strikes, the enemy missile ship, which was in the area of potential launch of the Kalibrs in Temryutskaya Bay, "suffered damage and was forced to leave the combat duty area."
It was recently reported that one of the naval strike drones used by the GUR, during an operation in the Black Sea, broke into the Novorossiysk Bay, where it exploded and eliminated five elite Russian submarine saboteurs at once.
