German company Quantum Systems is developing a new carrier drone called Sparta for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, Defense Express reports.
The drone received the following characteristics:
· total take-off weight up to 23 kg, of which two FPV drones weigh 8 kg;
· the flight radius is 200 km;
· time in the air reaches 6-8 hours.
At the same time, according to Quantum Systems, Sparta can carry various payloads – not only drones, but also cameras or other systems, which allows the drone to be used, for example, for reconnaissance.
The drone is designed according to the "Wing" scheme, it has a V-shaped tail and an electric motor with a pusher propeller. A compact catapult is used to launch the drone from the ground.
The German company's co-founder, Florian Seibel, posted a video of the Sparta launch on LinkedIn. He also said that the idea for Sparta was born in April, and the system was ready in July.
Earlier, in a separate post about the drone, he added the hashtag #madeinUkraine. This led the company's co-founder to suggest that the new product will be produced in Ukraine. Oboronka has already contacted Florian Seibel for comment on this matter.
At the same time, the Hartpunkt resource reported that the new product will go into series production by the end of 2025, although it did not specify how many drones are planned to be produced in the first stage.
Previously, the Ukrainian Defense Forces began using an updated version of Quantum Systems ' Vector reconnaissance drones, which are equipped with sound detectors to track enemy artillery.
