The administration of US President Donald Trump has approved the sale of 3,350 Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) air-launched missiles to Ukraine. According to The Wall Street Journal, the deliveries are expected to take place within six weeks, and the total cost of the weapons package is $850 million. The bulk of the costs will be covered by European countries.

ERAM missiles belong to the "air-to-ground" class and have a range of 240 to 450 km. Their modular design allows the weapons to be used against both ground and sea targets. According to WSJ sources, Ukraine will have to obtain permission from the Pentagon to use these missiles.

The decision to supply ERAM was postponed until the conclusion of negotiations between Donald Trump and Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. At the time of publication, the US State Department had not commented on the deal.

The publication also recalls that in 2023, the Joe Biden administration approved the transfer of ATACMS missiles to Ukraine. Restrictions on their use for strikes on Russian territory were lifted in the fall of 2024 after the participation of the DPRK military in hostilities on the side of Moscow. The last ATACMS missiles arrived in the spring of 2025, but there are currently few of them left. Since late spring, the Pentagon has again banned their use against the Russian Federation.

By the way, earlier the American company Raytheon and the Pentagon signed a contract worth up to $3.5 billion for the production of medium-range AMRAAM aircraft missiles, some of which will be delivered to Ukraine.
