Ukrainian ground robot Spider allowed for military use

The Ministry of Defenсe has codified and approved for operation in units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the ground robotic complex Spider. This was reported by the Main Directorate for Lifecycle Support of Armaments and Military Equipment.

The NRC was developed by a team of Ukrainian engineers, taking into account the practical combat experience of the defenders. The complex has modifications to perform various tasks: logistical support, performing certain engineering tasks. The developers also found a technological solution to increase the control range of the NRC platforms.

The ground robot has compact dimensions – two of them can fit in the back of a military pickup truck. The platform weighs just over 50 kg and can carry up to a hundredweight of payload. According to the report, the robots have four engines, which increases the mobility and endurance of the NRC in combat conditions.

"Key features of the robotic platforms are their maneuverability, ease of control, ability to operate in areas exposed to enemy electronic warfare (EW), and capacity to perform complex maneuvers in confined spaces. The ‘Spiders’ can dynamically traverse steep slopes and operate at an angle. The battery charge lasts for several hours of continuous operation," the Ministry of Defenсe said in a statement.

Recall that earlier the Ministry of Defence codified and allowed for operation in the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the Ukrainian-made ground robotic complex Vislyuk. The platform is placed in the body of a minibus or a trailer-carriage.
