Already 25 foreign companies, including giants of global defense production, are at various stages of localizing their production in Ukraine, Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said in a comment to Politico.
"We offer partners various models of cooperation, including the "Danish model", Build with Ukraine / Build in Ukraine. The priority is that the main part of the company's products go to the needs of the Ukrainian army," the head of the defense department noted.
Denys Shmyhal also noted: to minimize risks for investors and make the work of joint ventures in Ukraine more attractive, the government is creating Defence City.
"This is a special regime for the development of Ukraine's defense industry. It provides for tax benefits, simplification of customs procedures, a mechanism for the relocation of production to safer regions, expansion of state financial support, and opportunities for export and integration into global chains," the minister explained.
In early September, Denys Shmyhal reported that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had signed laws on the launch of Defence City. On August 21, MPs voted for two documents: No. 13420 and No. 13421. The official website of the Verkhovna Rada indicates that No. 13420 was indeed returned with the signature of the President of Ukraine. However, there is still no such information regarding No. 13421.
