For Sumy, the Russian drone "Italmas" has become a real disaster. The enemy is essentially testing this UAV in the city and can apply the acquired experience in other territories. This was stated by a specialist in the field of military radio technologies, Sergey "Flash" Beskrestnov.
"The Russians have actually set up a test site there (in Sumy – ed.) for testing this UAV. And don't doubt that they will transfer the experience to other fronts," he warned.
At the same time, he clarified that the "Italmas" is not the "KUB" with which the military constantly confuses it. This UAV has a propeller in front.
Serhiy Flesh also noted that "Italmas" transmits an analog image to the pilot who controls it. This can be prevented by an electronic warfare complex for video suppression in the 3.3 GHz band.
"But we are not doing this. Maybe we should think globally about creating a solution (plan) for covering frontline cities?" - the specialist summed up.
Previously, the specialist had already stated about the use of this drone for strikes on Sumy. On July 24, Serhiy Flesh published a photo of the UAV with the caption "This is what attacked Sumy today."
According to information from open sources, the UAV was developed in 2023. It is codenamed "Izdeliye 54" and is actually a simplified version of the Shahed-136 drone, which the Russians use to attack Ukrainian cities.
