The European Union needs reliable protection against Russian drones, European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius told X.
"Once again Russia tests frontier states, EU & NATO. We must urgently develop "Drone wall" along entire EU Eastern flank, right now the most important common flagship project. We shall work together with Member States, frontier countries and Ukraine," he said.
Kubilius also stressed that Russia will be stopped. This statement came against the backdrop of the Polish Armed Forces reporting an act of aggression as a result of Russia's attack on Ukraine, Ukrinform reports. At night, several Russian drones violated the border of Ukraine and Poland.
The European Commissioner for Defence and Space has previously called on Lithuania and the other Baltic states to create a joint defence system based on unmanned technology. The call came after a drone from Belarus violated Lithuanian airspace.
