The US State Department has approved a possible sale of Javelin anti-tank missile systems, as well as related logistics and support elements, to the Polish government for approximately $780 million. This is stated on the website of the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA).

The Polish government wants to purchase 2,506 FGM-148F Javelin missiles and 253 Javelin ATGMs. In addition, the list includes other components, including battery cooling units, tools, spare parts, software simulators, training and technical support services, delivery, and more.

"This proposed sale will support the foreign policy and national security of the United States by improving the security of a NATO Ally that is a force for political and economic stability in Europe," the Agency said in a statement.

The prime contractors are RTX Corporation and Lockheed Martin. The State Department noted that the sale will improve Poland's ability to counter current and future threats, defend its sovereign territory, and meet NATO requirements.

The DSCA noted that it has issued the necessary certification for the sale and has notified the US Congress, which must finally approve the sale.

It was previously reported that Russian Gerber drones arrived in Poland with additional fuel tanks, indicating that they were specially modified for long-distance flight.
