The US House of Representatives has passed a bill on the defense budget for 2026 for $892.6 billion. It includes $400 million for Ukraine, The New York Times writes.
This money will go to the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI) program. It is noted that the bill was supported by 231 congressmen, while 196 members of the House of Representatives were against it.
It is also noted that the proposal by Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene to cut funding for the country was rejected.
In addition, lawmakers added a requirement that the Pentagon report to Congress if the administration plans to cancel or suspend military aid to Ukraine that Congress has already approved.
According to the publication, this could be an attempt to regain control over this after the Defense Department suspended aid supplies to Ukraine over the summer without notifying lawmakers.
Recall that a study was previously published, according to which Europe allocated more money to aid Ukraine than the United States.
In addition, the EU plans to allocate 6 billion euros for drones for Ukraine. This money will be taken from frozen Russian assets.
