During the joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises "West-2025", new Russian satellite communication terminals – "Kvadrat" and "Sprint" - were deployed. The Belarusian Ministry of Defense has published relevant photos, which demonstrate the use of equipment to ensure communication between units of the regional group of troops.
According to Militarnyi, the Sprint station, based on visual features, is likely the Spirit-030 station, which entered the Russian army in June 2025. It was first recorded in service with the 144th Motorized Rifle Division of the 20th Combined Arms Army. The device has compact dimensions, a folding antenna, and is transported in a small case. Its purpose is to provide stable communication for command posts.
The "Kvadrat" terminal visually resembles a larger analogue of the American Starlink system. It is aimed at transferring large amounts of data within a regiment or division. The system supports various communication channels, including secure email and video conferencing.
The technical specifications of both terminals are not officially disclosed, but it is known that they operate in different frequency ranges.
We will remind you that on the morning of September 15, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' SBS, Robert Brovdi (call sign "Madyar"), reported a failure in the Starlink satellite internet service along the entire front line.
